LUNA PALACE CINEMAS

MY WORK WITH

My Career at
Luna Palace Cinemas

I started at Perth's independent iconic arthouse, Luna Palace Cinemas, in 2020. I was working at a competing cinema as their GFE Assistant and as a Shift Supervisor when I was approached by one of Luna Palace’s Managers and was offered a Front of House position at Luna Leederville.

After quickly stepping up into a Duty Manager role, and then a Marketing Assistant role, I put my enthusiasm and creative skill set to use, drastically changing the visual direction of our EDM campaigns.

This creative freedom expanded as I began to design materials for our socials, website, and on-site collateral—such as props, photo opportunities, promotional items, and immersive projections for events that flowed from the big screen to the walls of our beautiful Art Deco cinemas.

After flexing my creative muscles and seeing a spike in audience engagement from my contributions, I stepped into the role of Film Festival Coordinator, as well as Marketing and Graphic Design.

In 2024, I developed the drafts for Luna Palace Cinemas’ new website, creating a fresh design as a functioning draft site before working alongside the talented team at Pipelabs to launch the final version. After moving to Melbourne that year, I was also commissioned by this beloved cinema to create branded illustrations and assets for the new website.

These illustrations honour the unique iconography of Luna Leederville, Luna on SX, and Windsor Cinema, inspired by previous illustrations crafted by Studio Papa. Luna Palace Cinemas, housed in some of Perth's last remaining Art Deco picture houses, is a cornerstone of Western Australia’s independent film community.

FEATURED PROJECT

As Film Festival Coordinator, I worked on national film festivals across Luna Palace's Leederville, Windsor, Fremantle and seasonal Outdoor Cinema sites.

For years, I coordinated Opening Night events, leading from concept to completion, programming the website, spearheading marketing campaigns, managing and creating digital promotional artwork, and working alongside sponsors, shareholders, prominent community figures and organisations. I also budgeted for event catering, entertainment, physical decorations (such as props and my own projections), all the way through to introducing the festival, where I would speak to a room of 350+ people.

Working alongside a fantastic team that offered me invaluable advice and trust grew my career exponentially. I can’t thank Luna Palace Cinemas enough for everything they have done for me.
